Vijayadashami

Vijayadashami

Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated in India and other parts of the Indian subcontinent. It typically falls on the tenth day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Ashwin, which usually corresponds to September or October in the Gregorian calendar. The word Vijayadashami is derived from the Sanskrit words Vijaya, which means victory, and Dashami, which means tenth day. Therefore, Vijayadashami is a celebration of victory over evil.
